Everybody's doin' it! Are you?

One of the most exciting things you learn as a Group Exercise Instructor is that everyone in your class has a different fitness goal. Yet, here we are, all of us, exercising together to obtain seemingly different end results. In any given fitness class, you may find a mother re-entering the gym to become fit and healthy for her new baby; a 20-something student giving themselves an hour to relieve the stress of their studies; a middle aged marathoner looking to cross train for an upcoming event; or, perhaps, a first-time exerciser working towards a weight loss goal.

Maybe your goal is simply to have fun while exercising, because you know you should do it, but you can’t seem to muster up the required motivation to go it alone. Whatever the reason is – there’s no better place to achieve your goal than with like-minded people, in an environment with the best heart-pumping music, and probably the most excited person you’ve ever seen who loves working out and wants to share their knowledge with you. The thing is, with the versatility of fitness classes - you are bound to find a class that suits your needs, expectations, personality, and fitness goals alike. (In fact, you’ll probably find two or three!) All programs are multi-leveled, multi-functional experiences, and your instructor is trained to offer variations for all fitness levels.  “But, I have some knee issues. I probably shouldn’t do any classes…” You could be well suited to BODYPUMP, with reduced squat and lunge weight. You could also try RPM which provides high-intensity cardio, with little to no impact. “OK, but, I’ve never done karate or martial arts, so I probably won’t know what to do in BODYCOMBAT.” Neither have I, and I’m a certified BODYCOMBAT instructor!

The class mimics martial arts disciplines, but is easier to follow than you might think. There are tons of options and your instructor will be able to help you with technique before, during, and after class. “…and I don’t know how to dance. I don’t want to look silly.” There’s no time like the present! Try attending ZUMBA, or SH’BAM – these classes break down difficult dance sequences to become easier to do – and then add layers as the class progresses. (You’ll also forget about your lack of dance experience because you’ll be having so much FUN!) “I better not, I have no coordination…” You could try BODYPUMP, RPM, or one of our newest exclusive programs – Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED.

You do not have to execute brilliant coordination to attend these classes! The best way to find out which program suits your fitness goals is to DO IT! You can feel comfortable knowing that everyone in the room has come to class for a specific reason – otherwise they wouldn’t be there! So, next time you finish a track that’s so intense and challenging that you think you might lose your lunch, have a sip of water, and give the person next to you a high five for being there, and getting through it with you. We’re all in it together!
